The Cinque Terre correspond to a particularly beautiful coastline of Liguria. The sheer cliffs on the waterfront and the jagged coasts frame this enchanting view. The paths that join the Cinque Terre are two and are paths sign posted by the Italian Alpine Club. The path that is more well know is the one that crosses through all the five towns, that is called Via dell’Amore, in the area between Riomaggiore and Manarola. The other path is an old mule track.
The Five Towns
Monterosso, placed at the centre of a gulf, is the town with the larger beaches. Vernazza is small and beautiful village, made even more charming by the characteristic harbour dock. Corniglia is in a very attractive location. It is placed at the top of a hill that looks over the sea. Manarola is placed in the middle of a gorge closed by two rocks. Riomaggiore takes its name from the old river Maggiore that goes through the town.
